An important and rare pair of embroidered silk brocade temple banners
dating: 18th Century
provenance: China
Fixed on wooden panels, with silk lining and shaped as ruyi; each one featuring good omen symbols; developing vertically along in six, yellow, green, blue and green silk-brocade bands; decorated with silver-thread medals depicting five-nail dragon chasing the flaming pearl and ruyi-shaped symbols; two bands made of thesame cloth are juxtaposed at the center. Both with scraping, small missing parts and small, old restorations. See other similar samples at the Philadelphia Museum of Art, collocation number 1929-88-25; 1929-88-26; 1929-88-27. Compare this sample to another, similar one at the Philadelphia Museum of Art, collocation number 1944-20-685.
